Self- Control

Self-Control is the ability of individuals to put themselves in check or put their bodies in subjection. Self-control can be likened to self-discipline.
Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 9:24-27 says 24 You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don’t you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious. 25 Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that withers away, but we run to win a prize that[a] never fades. 26 That is the way I run, with a clear goal in mind. That is the way I fight, not like someone shadowboxing. 27 No, I keep on disciplining my body, making it serve me so that after I have preached to others, I will not somehow be disqualified.
Lack of self-control can manifest itself in several ways; some people lack the ability to control their emotions. The moment they get angry or excited about something, it is going to be like heaven is going to fall. They can say anything that comes to their mind, and they cannot just stop.
Some lack self-control when it comes to the opposite sex, eating habits, drinking, and time management- forgetting that time is so precious, it is only time that you cannot buy back; the moment time is wasted you cannot buy it back.
How do you know you lack self-Control?
• Difficulty to commit to positive habits
• Inability to regulate your feelings or actions
• Inability to reach goals
• Get distracted easily
How to acquire self-control:
• Prayer Ask for strength from God
• Be conscious of your actions
• Remove enticement; things that can draw you to what you do not want to do.
• Self-control is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit Gal 5:23
• Focus on things you want to do and have a to-do list.
• Measure your progress.
• Eradicate procrastination.

In conclusion Proverbs 25 vs 28 says; Like a city with broken walls
is a man without self-control. Control yourself as you are proceeding this year. Not everything that glitters is gold neither is everything red fire.
Prayer: Father Lord give me the grace to control myself in every area.
Remained blessed!
